Accidents happen fast. Thats why the Heart and Stroke Foundation has expanded its training to include first aid as well as CPR and defibrillation, together in one course. Working with Brampton First Aid CPR the goal is to get more Canadians ready, willing and able to take action in a cardiac or other medical emergency. Fast action saves lives. CPR/AED Certification

The CPR/AED course includes training on the following topics:

  • Cardiovascular Disease Prevention & Education
  • Signs & Symptoms - Heart Attack & Stroke
  • Emergency Scene Management
  • Adult CPR
  • Choking
  • AED - identifying the parts and use of the machine
  • Proper pad placement and maintenance
  • Special considerations when using the AED (implantable pacemakers, hypothermia, wet surfaces, conductive surfaces, medicine patches, hairy chest, physical trauma etc.)
  • AED maintenance (daily self-check, battery or electrode replacement) Follow up in the event of an incident

This course is for the occupation of Dental Office and Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor, Police Pre-Service and Student Nurse.
Duration CPR A: 4 hours in-class OR 2 hours in-class + 3 hours online learning*
CPR C: 5 hours in-class OR 3 hours in-class + 3 hours online learning*
CPR/AED Level HCP: 6 Hours (Recertifcation: 5 Hours in class)

Please Note: Online Blended learning course is divided into two components. Participants must first complete the self-paced online component, which includes a knowledge evaulation, then successfully complete an Instructor-led classroom component (skills practice and evaulation session) in order to achieve certification. Participants must complete the classroom evaluation component within six weeks of completing the online component.

Standard First Aid & CPR Certification

The Standard First Aid & CPR course includes training on the following topic:

This course is for the occupations of Canadian Border Services, Electrician, Joint Health and Safety Committee, Lifeguard, Massage Therapist, Personal Support Worker, Pharmacist qualification for Injection Program, Dental Hygienist, Police, Physician, Registered Nurse, registered Practical Nurse, Firefighter Pre-Service and Paramedic Pre-Service.
Duration: CPR A: 13 hours in-class OR 5.5 hours in-class + 7.5-8 hours online learning*
CPR C: 14 hours in-class OR+")  hours in-class + 8 hours online learning*
Recertification CPR A: 6.5 hours in-class OR 3 hours in-class + 4 hours online learning*
CPR C: 7.5 hours in-class OR 4 hours in-class + 4 hours online learning*

Recertification

We provide recertification for CPR/AED & Standard First Aid

Re-Certification is ONLY permitted for those who have a previous certificate issued within 3 years. Proof of certification is due on the day of the course (within the last 3 years) and it MUST be a Canadian Red Cross certificate. Re-Certification is only permitted once for every full certification.

Heart and Stroke Certification - BLS Provider

We our instructors provide certification for BLS Provider course. Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings, and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.
